Leaders Chosen Represent Dow Chemical, Omni-ID & FLEXcon, Among Others
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | May 11, 2016 AIM, the leading industry association, global authority and resource for innovation and technologies in barcode, RFID, RAIN, RTLS, NFC, IoT and mobile enterprise services and solutions, has announced the recipients of the 2016 AIM Industry Awards, presented last week at the annual AIM Summit, which brought together automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) leaders from around the world.
This year’s Percival Award, co-sponsored by AIM and SCAN – The Data Capture Report, honors outstanding contributions to the application of AIDC technologies in the user community. Omni-ID, based in Rochester, NY, was the honoree this year. Accepting the award on of behalf of Omni-ID was Tracy Gay, Vice President of Marketing.
Chuck Evanhoe, President & CEO, Evanhoe & Associates of Dayton, OH, was selected as recipient of the 2016 Dilling Award. Named for industry pioneer Richard Dilling, this award is considered to be the highest honor given in the AIDC industry and recognizes lifetime achievements that have furthered industry growth through significant applications and new technological developments
Jeff Tazelaar of Dow Chemical received the 2016 Williams Award, given in recognition of his effort to further the growth of the AIDC industry in academia through work as a teacher, researcher or entrepreneur. Mr. Tazelaar is currently working toward a PhD in Packaging at Michigan State University.
Jim Potter of FLEXcon, headquartered in Spencer, MA, was chosen as the winner of the 2016 Gilligan Award. Co-sponsored by AIM and the Material Handling Institute (MHI), this award recognizes outstanding contributions to the development of AIDC applications in materials handling and logistics in the supply chain.
The 2016 Moore Award was presented posthumously to Rick Morgan, former Editor of SCAN –The Data Capture Report. The Moore award recognizes a member of the media whose work exemplifies the qualities of honest, educational and unbiased reporting in the AIDC industry. Larry Roberts, SCAN’s publisher, accepted the award on Mr. Morgan’s behalf following his unexpected passing in 2015.
“Each year, it is increasingly difficult to select only one winner from the vast number of nominations AIM receives,” said AIM Chief Operating Officer Mary Lou Bosco. “Yet, these recipients truly stand out for their incredible efforts to lead the AIDC industry. We are deeply appreciative and grateful to honor their contributions.”
