Raleigh, NC – July 27, 2022 – The TWAIN Working Group (TWG), a not-for-profit providing and fostering a universal public standard for image acquisition devices, today announced that it will hold a TWAIN
Direct® Developers Day November 9, 2022, in Tampa, Florida, with optional online participation. This event will encourage scanner manufacturers, Independent Software Vendors as well businesses evolve
their Capture strategy with driverless web and mobile document scanning applications by eliminating the need for legacy USB scanner connectivity. TWAIN Direct® Developers Day attendees will create a functional TWAIN Direct scanning application with direct hands-on support and supervision of the TWAIN Working Group team of experts. This event is supported by Silver Sponsor Visioneer, Inc., Bronze sponsor Verve Corporation and Media Sponsors Workflow Magazine and Document Imaging Report.
TWAIN Direct is designed to provide application developers with a simplified and universal approach to directly integrate and support any brand or model document scanner via client or web-based application, regardless of its operating system. TWAIN Direct eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming hardware regression testing and limited operating system support of vendor provided drivers and API’s. TWAIN Direct supports network communications between applications and image
acquisition devices which can be operated through any web browser-based device or operating system.
In addition, TWAIN Direct can support any TWAIN based USB scanner using a TWAIN Direct Bridge application or Side Car solution.
“The TWAIN Working Group is very excited about this inaugural event, by providing developers an opportunity to develop a TWAIN Direct scanning solution. The upcoming Developers Day will be a
stepping-stone for hardware manufacturers and software developers to experience for themselves how easy and quick the development of a TWAIN Direct application really is.” stated Joseph Odore, TWAIN
Working Group Chair. “This upcoming Developers Day is just another way the TWAIN Working Group is providing the Capture community with an easy-to-develop technology that is royalty free. The TWAIN
Working Group appreciates its members and event sponsors for supporting an event that will further drive adoption of the TWAIN Direct standard for the betterment of document capture market.”
